Proposal for the Formation of a New Special Interest Group (SIG) Within the
International Society for the Systems Sciences (ISSS) :
The aging process is, of course, a universal systems phenomenon. And for
living systems (humans),the end result is death, the universal attractor. For
so-called inanimate systems such as corporations, they need not die,but many
do. And what of the universe, perhaps our largest and most important system.
Aging theories abound,from wear and tear,free radical,autoimmune,finite
potential,to those driven by thermodynamics, incorporating the ideas of Ilya
Prigogine and Claude Shannon.
Our new SIG,²Aging Systems²,will deal with ³Lifespan-And Factors Affecting
It²,and ³Must We Grow Old².
For the ISSS to recognize a new SIG,we need at least twelve members to
indicate an interest in being part of this SIG,and to present papers on
aging systems at our ISSS meetings.
If you wish to be involved, please send me an e-mail,stating your
interest, and indicating what aspect of aging systems attracts you at this
time. Please respond quickly.
